Cognition Assessment Platform

Cognitive assessment can be used to evaluate brain injuries, diagnose major cognitive impairment, neurodegenerative diseases and mental disorders. However, clinical doctors still use scales, such as MMSE and MoCA, as the primary method to perform cognition assessment in China, that are high labor/time costs, subjectivity, low efficiency, and low reliability when retesting in a short period of time. In 2015, the Institute of Neuroscience (ION, Chinese Academy of Sciences) collaborating with major research institutions, hospitals, and universities launched the project to develop a cognitive assessment battery which is called Brain Toolbox, therefore established a cognitive assessment platform in July 2022 in the Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT). The majority goal of the platform is to marketize, optimize and further develop a standard cognitive assessment toolbox, which will be ease-to-use to obtain a more detailed analysis by surveying the neuropsychological domains in early detection of relevant diseases (schizophrenia, depression, addiction, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, cerebral stroke, etc.) that can also be used to evolute effects of medicine and cognitive training.
