On December 12th to 14th, the first Key Members Meeting of the CAS Center for Excellence in Brain Science was held at ION.

　　Fortynine key members, from the support unit of the center (Institute of Neuroscience) and 20 build units of the center (Kunming Institute of Zoology , University of Science & Technology of China, Institute of Biophysics, Institute of Automation, Institute of Psychology, Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Institute of Semiconductors, Institute of Computing Technology, Institute of High Energy Physics, National Center for Nanoscience & Technology, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, CAS-MPG Partner for Computational Biology, Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, Wuhan Institute of Virology, Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, Institute for Nutritional Sciences, Third Military Medical University, Shandong University, East China University of Science and Technology ), attended this meeting.

　　Prof. Mu-Ming Poo, the center director, reported on the the procedure through which the center was established and on its goals, research areas, scientific projects, recruitment plans, management and organization.

　　During the meeting, the 49 key members reported on their ongoing work, their future research directions, and  urgent technical problems needing help solving. Then, they divided into three groups for in depth discussion on future research plans.

　　After the discussions, the heads of the three research groups reported to all members on their plans for collaborations, key research projects to pursue and evaluation criteria.
