On October 16th to 17th, the 9th IASP Research Symposium “Understanding mechanism of chronic pain” was held at the Institute of Neuroscience (ION). This Symposium was organized by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), Institute of Neuroscience (ION), Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Chinese Neuroscience Society (CNS) and The Shanghai Society for Neuroscience (SSN). Dr. Xu Zhang (ION), Dr. Min Zhuo (University of Toronto), Dr. Gerald F. Gebhart (University of Pittsburgh) and Dr. Megumu Yoshimura (Kumamoto Health Science University) co-chaired the event.
More than 150 researchers attended the symposium and 23 renowned scientists from China, United States of American, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and Japan presented their recent findings on the structural, molecular and cellular bases of chronic pain, as well as avenues for potential new therapies.
During theposter session, a panel of experts selected five “Best Posters” from presentations by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
The symposium was sponsored by the International Association for the Study of Pain, The National Natural Science Foundation of China, Institute of Neuroscience, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, SIBS Clinical Research Center and Alpha MED Scientific Inc.
