On January 28-29, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) convened its 2026 Annual Work Conference, during which the 2025 CAS International Science and Technology Cooperation Award was presented. Professor Nikos Logothetis, Director of the International Center for Primate Brain Research at the CAS Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology, was honored with the "CAS International Science and Technology Cooperation Award" in recognition of his outstanding contributions to advancing brain science research and promoting scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries.

In 2021, Professor Nikos Logothetis led his entire research team to join the CAS Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology. Together, they established and he now leads the International Center for Primate Brain Research, becoming vital international intellectual support for China's frontier brain science research.

While working in China, Professor Logothetis has actively integrated into the Chinese scientific research system, selflessly contributing his academic resources and intellectual property. He provided crucial support for key technological breakthroughs in China's first vertical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and collaborative spirit befitting an international scientist.

Upon receiving the award, Professor Nikos Logothetis stated: "My choice to come to China stemmed from a firm belief that this country is on an extraordinary path, distinctly different from that of Europe and America—be it in industry or in science. Here, assembling a diverse, multidisciplinary team is currently more feasible than in Western countries. The Chinese Academy of Sciences, a paragon of the highest scientific institution, is consistently committed to supporting multidisciplinary research, providing scientific counsel, and driving technological innovation. To be recognized by this institution is the most wonderful surprise I could imagine. The acknowledgment embodied by this award fills me with deep pride. I am profoundly honored and delighted.
