On the afternoon of October 21, 2025, the Primate Research Division of CEBSIT Trade Unions held the 2025 first aid training session. The event attracted 37 Chinese and international researchers from various teams, effectively enhancing their emergency response skills and contributing to laboratory safety.
Dr. Chen Jiahui, an attending physician from the Department of Cardiology at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, was invited as the keynote instructor. The session began with opening remarks from Conchy Moya, Head of Administrative Operations at the International Center for Primate Brain Research (ICPBR), and Ms. Lu Yali from the Non-human Primate Facility, who extended a warm welcome to Dr. Chen and highlighted the importance of first aid knowledge in both research and daily life.
During the training, Dr. Chen presented detailed statistics on the incidence and severity of sudden cardiac death, emphasizing the importance of first aid knowledge and the critical “Golden Four Minutes” rescue concept. She then provided a systematic and clear explanation of the standard procedures for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Following the theoretical session, participants moved to the practical training area, where they performed hands-on CPR and AED exercises on manikins under Dr. Chen’s guidance. Her engaging and humorous teaching style made the professional content both accessible and memorable, creating an interactive and lively learning atmosphere.
Conducted entirely in English, the training drew active participation from Chinese and international researchers from multiple teams, including the International Center for Primate Brain Research and the Non-human Primate Facility. Participants expressed that the training not only equipped them with valuable first aid skills but also boosted their confidence in handling emergencies.
