The 2016 ION Annual Meeting was held at the Campus Lecture Hall from December 25th to 27th, 2016. During the opening remark of the meeting, Prof. Mu-Ming Poo gave a talk entitled “Institute of Neuroscience at the Crossroad”. He introduced the progress of the ION faculty recruitment, 9.4T fMRI setup, CAS Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT) Shao Xing Campus for Science and Technology and the establishment review of the CEBSIT.

　　Fifty-nine ION researchers, including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and research associates, presented their recent works. New faculty members, Drs. Shu-Jia Zhu, Zhi-Yong Liu, Yue-Jun Chen, Min Xu and Zhi-Feng Liang introduced the research directions of their respective laboratories.

　　The prizes for the best six presentations were awarded to Ge Gao (first prize, Shi-Qing Cai’s Lab), Wang-Chao Xu (second prize, Jin Xu’s Lab), Zheng-Run Gao (second prize, Yan-Gang Sun’s Lab), Jia Zhu (third prize, Cheng-Yu Li’s Lab), Liu Yang (third prize, Xu Zhang’s Lab) and Xue-Fei Yu (third prize, Yong Gu’s Lab).
