Postdoctoral Position in Neural Dynamics and Network Structure at CEBSIT, Shanghai

Time:2025-10-14

The Neural Dynamics and Network Connectivity Lab (PI: Yu Hu) at the Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (aka Institute of Neuroscience), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, will start in January 2026. We use mathematical approaches to study the relationship between neural population dynamics and connectivity structures to gain analytical and mechanistic insights into brain dynamics and function. Recent work on the covariance spectrum and brain-wide activity data is published in PLOS Comp Bio, eLife, and PNAS. More info at: https://mahy.people.ust.hk.

We are recruiting 1-2 postdoctoral fellows for projects focusing on dynamics-connectivity theory in biological learning and multi-area networks. Candidates should hold (or soon obtain) a Ph.D. in neuroscience, mathematics, physics, statistics, or a related field, with strong mathematical skills, an interest in neuroscience, demonstrated research independence, and good teamwork and communication skills. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The initial appointment is for one year and is renewable based on performance and funding.

The Center offers an excellent research environment with abundant opportunities for close collaboration between theory and experiment. The lab provides full support in mentorship and assistance with applications to relevant talent programs such as the "Shanghai Super Postdoc Incentive Program," as well as domestic and international academic exchanges and career development opportunities. Postdoctoral fellows and their family members are also eligible for preferential Shanghai residency policies.

Interested applicants should send their CV, representative publications, a list of at least 2 references, and any other relevant materials to huyu@ion.ac.cn and hr@ion.ac.cn with the subject line "Application for Postdoctoral Position in Neural Dynamics and Network Connectivity Lab." Qualified candidates will be interviewed promptly. Informal inquiries are welcome and/or chat with the PI at SfN 2025. All materials will be kept strictly confidential.
