Technical Assistant Advanced Brain Research in Non-Human Primates

Time:2024-07-29

The Dynamic Embodied Brain Lab (DEB Lab) at the International Center for Primate Brain Research (ICPBR) of the Institute of Neuroscience (ION) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is looking for a highly motivated technical assistant.

Lab interests

The DEB lab studies brain pathways through which physiological signals from the body (e.g., heart rate) influence functions of the brain, including emotions and emotional disorders. The lab combines state-of-the-art methods including high-resolution tracing of neuronal projections, single-cell proteomics and transcriptomics, complex cranial surgeries and intracranial investigation with electrophysiology and neuroimaging in non-human primates.

Job description

The successful candidate will assist in different experiments and in organizing the lab: preparation of histological, microscopy, electrophysiology and neuroimaging experiments, surgeries, maintenance and supplying of research setups, training and supervising new lab members, contacting suppliers and service companies, and help harmonizing the lab’s dynamic.

Working environment

The ICPBR and the DEB lab offer a unique international research atmosphere in Shanghai. The DEB Lab is centered in Shanghai with additional activities in Germany, Belgium, and New York. The ICPBR is equipped with cutting-edge neuroscience technologies, including high-resolution MRI scanners (4.7T, 7T, 9.4T), top-level surgery rooms, experimental setups, and animal facilities.

Requirements

Bachelor or master’s in biology, engineering, biomedicine or similar. Highly motivated, diligent, organized and good communicator. Fluent in English. Prior experience working in a research laboratory.

To get more information and/or to apply, please contact Dr. Henry Evrard  (henry.evrard@icpbr.ac.cn) or the DEB Lab manager, Ms. Qian Liang (qian.liang@icpbr.ac.cn).
