The Institute of Neuroscience (ION), Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences, has on-going recruitment of Young investigators and Laboratory heads at the Investigator and Senior Investigator level.
Since its founding in 1999, ION has aimed to implement the infrastructure of a modern research institute that provides an environment for rigorous scientific pursuit and fruitful interactions, a merit-based system for promotion and funding, and a high-quality training program for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The Institute currently has 48 laboratories in various areas of molecular, cellular and system neurobiology (see www.cebsit.cas.cn) and plans to expand to 50 laboratories by 2020.
Young Investigator positions
The newly established ION Young Investigator program is to support recent doctoral graduates on a fast-track to conduct independent research at the early stage of their careers. Applications are invited for young investigator positions in all areas of biological sciences and technology.
Qualifications include the following: Candidates 1) must have a Ph.D. degree; 2) should have demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement and potential for independent research; 3) maintain a high standard of scientific integrity and strong interest for collaborative research.
Young investigators will be provided with the resources to establish an independent research program, including start-up funds, annual operating funds, salary and benefits, housing subsidy, and lab space. A mentorship committee consists of 3-5 senior investigators will provide mentorship for research directions and laboratory management. The appointment lasts for 3 years and could be renewed for an additional 2 years after review. Young investigators with outstanding performance will be considered for early promotion to the position of regular ION Lab head.
