Jiuting Non-human Primate Facility of CEBSIT (ION) was established in 2011 for studying the neural bases of cognitive functions and the mechanisms of neurological disorders. It is located in Jiuting Town, Songjiang District, Shanghai. The Facility mainly carries out research in marmoset breeding, physiology, behaviour and gene modification and provides relevant technical services and support for the Institute of Neuroscience. In 2021, according to the development plan of the CEBSIT, the Jiuting Non-human Primate Facility was reorganized as the Marmoset Facility of CEBSIT (ION) and became one of the three animal facilities of the CEBSIT. The marmoset facility focuses on marmoset breeding and offers technical support for scientific research.
The Marmoset Facility of CEBSIT (ION) houses the largest experimental marmoset population in China, with well-qualified and professional animal technician team. Our facility supplies the CEBSIT and other research institutions with high-quality laboratory marmosets and provides technical support. Currently, there are three marmoset experimental facilities.
The first one is located in Jiuting Town, Songjiang District, Shanghai, with usage area of 1700 square meters. It is an important marmoset breeding base and provides technological support for marmoset experiments. It is equipped with B-ultrasound, two-photon and other large experimental equipments.
The second marmoset facility is located in the ION building, No. 320, Yueyang Road. It is an ordinary animal room with usage area of nearly 200 square meters and exclusively used for marmoset experiments. All marmoset are raised in single cages with extrusion rod. This marmoset facility is equipped with operating room and postoperative monitoring room for surgery.
The third monkey facility is located in the building 23, No. 320, Yueyang Road, with usage area of about 460 square meters. It is equipped with two laboratories and a standard operating room.
